SEWING BASICS WITH B In-Person
This program is fully booked. Please check back for future summer sewing programs. You are welcome to register for Sit & Sew tonight from 4:30pm - 5:15 pm, to help build a collaborative quilt that will be donated to the community.
This program is for ages 10 - 17 and teaches you how to sew on a sewing machine. Must register for each session, and each session will be a new project; all materials are provided. Registration is separate for each participant and session. If you have more than one and the same family, you must use a different email address for each participant.
“Sewing Basics with B” at the James V. Brown Library is an opportunity for young people in the community to learn and/or refine their sewing skills. This hour-long class will offer all the material the learner will need to complete a variety of projects, including bookmarks, potholders, drink coasters, tote bags, aprons, and book sleeves.
**About the Presenters: Barb Vanaskie is a full-time clinical social worker who has a passion for fiber arts. She has been sewing since the age of seven, and started hemming her school uniforms and making scrunchies to match. She has experience making her own clothes, accessories, quilting, and at one time operated a small business in which she made a variety of baby items. She is excited to share her self-taught skills with the young patrons of the James V. Brown Library.
Participants are encouraged to use their new skill at the Sit & Sew program that starts right after each class. Registration is separate.
This program is part of the many ways the James V. Brown Library supports the Pennsylvania Library Association's PA Forward initiative by providing opportunities for both basic literacy and the social and civic literacies of learning.
**Note:** Please be advised that photographs may be taken during this event for use on the James V. Brown Library website, in the press, and in library marketing materials and publications. By registering for or attending this event, you consent to the library photographing and using your image and likeness. No names will be associated with these images. If you do not wish to have your photograph taken, you are still welcome to register or attend; however, please inform the staff member in charge.
