MUSEUM ROOM In-Person
Dramatic Play is any play where kids create assigned roles and act out scenarios. This program is for children ages 3-9 and their caregivers to explore together!
Join our Library Volunteer for this important program that helps develop social, emotional, and cognitive skills, including communication, empathy, creativity, and problem-solving. Children engage in dramatic play by taking on roles, like being a doctor or a baker, and acting out situations they have experienced or observed.
Not only does dramatic play support creativity and self-expression, but it also helps children learn real-life and social skills. Dramatic Play is any play where kids create assigned roles and act out scenarios.
Here is a list of ideas you can act out together in this dramatic play program:
- Explore featured books that we encourage you to check out.
- Dress up like a Community Helper.
- Model being a doctor while utilizing medical equipment to perform an exam.
- Demonstrate how to create Mail or deliver letters with our mailbox.
- Discover how to be a dentist by exploring dental instruments on a model mouth.
- Tinker and construct/deconstruct a small wooden toy at one of the workbenches.
- Apply personal experience to be a grocery clerk; ring up and bag groceries, check out customers, practice counting items, and explore pretend money.
- Use the pretend food and the Kitchen set to cook a meal and set the table. Also, utilize toy knives to cut up special Velcro play food items.
- Explore the dollhouse and assign the rooms, decorate the rooms with the proper furniture, or name the characters in the dollhouse.
- Manipulate small animals and pretend to be at the zoo or be a wild dinosaur.
- Pretend to be an artist and create a picture on the art easel.
- Act out a show with the puppets.
